We redesigned the stair, pushed out one wall 12 inches to bring in light from above, and hung a new sound-absorptive fabric ceiling with cove lighting around its perimeter.
A partition was removed to expose the stair and a dramatic window, and another window was relocated in a niche that provides a handsome space for the guest book.
