This house was the last house burned on the North edge of Montclair by the big 1991 Oakland Firestorm.

The owner wanted a bigger house than she had. To maintain the one-story small-scale facade to the street, we ended up cutting the lower floor of the house into the hill . The middle floor (right) faces the street, with dormers for light into upper floor master suite set back into roof.
